non-governmental organization that works for the conservation of
the biodiversity of the natural areas of the state of Parana in
southeastern Brazil. It was founded in 1984 and is headquartered
in the city of Curitiba. Its mission has been to protect natural
areas, reverse environmental degradation processes and seek

preserve lands are
owned in the name of SPVS, the caretakers of the preserve are
SPVS employees and SPVS will be responsible for all operations
associated with the project, both within and outside of the
preserve. Among the project activities to be completed by SPVS
will be: marking of preserve boundaries; hiring, training and
equipping of preserve guards and caretakers; construction of
infrastructure; reforestation by nursery-grown native species
seedlings; carbon monitoring and verification; development of
sustainable income sources for local communities; establishment
of sustainable natural resource activities; implementation of
educational outreach programs and institution of improved,
low-impact buffalo ranching throughout the region.
